La Mafia frontman Oscar D La Rosa lost his voice during a performance at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday (November 13), prompting the GRAMMY-winning group to use fill-in singers and reschedule the show for a future date to be determined.

La Mafia shared the news in an Instagram post, “We want to sincerely apologize to our fans that attended our Billy Bob’s Texas show. Oscar for the first time lost his voice and couldn’t continue. We want to thank Ben De Leon and Rolo Benavides of Sólido for helping us out with a few songs. Anyone that attended the show please keep your ticket Billy Bobs Texas and La Mafia will be doing a makeup date.”

Ben De Leon and Rolando “Rolo” Benavidez of Solido filled in for the ailing De La Rosa. Solido was one of the opening acts for La Mafia on Saturday night, along with Jorge Moreno.

De La Rosa was quarantined at home in August after he was diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID-19 as the frontman was fully-vaccinated.

La Mafia is one of the most influential bands in Latin music with roots in Tejano and the group celebrated 40 years in the music industry in 2020. The Houston, Texas-based group has earned two Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards, including in 2020 for Best Tejano Album with Live In Mexico.
